Spray Foam Insulation in Tallahassee, FL

Spray Foam Insulation Installers

Weather can be tricky in the South. You never know if you’ll get a crazy winter or record-breaking summer temperatures. In order to keep your home at its best, make sure it is insulated properly for all types of weather with foam insulation. One of the best types of foam insulation is spray foam. This insulation foam is a two-in-one product, insulating and air sealing in one step. Unlike fiberglass or cellulose insulation, spray foam insulation expands when applied and completely fills a cavity to prevent air leakage and keep energy bills low. Spray foam can also increase the strength of your home, helping to increase stability during high winds and severe storms.

There are two primary types of spray foam insulation.

Open Cell Spray Insulation

Open cell spray insulation is less dense, as the cells in the foam are open rather than staying intact when installed. This type of expanding foam insulation has a density of 0.5 pounds per cubic foot. The cells of foam are not completely closed and air fills all the “open” space inside the material.

Closed Cell Insulation

Closed cell insulation is denser than open cell spray foam because the cells in the foam are closed. This increases the product’s thermal resistance value (R-value), which can contribute to building stability and greater insulating properties. This type of expanding foam insulation has a density of 2.0 pounds per cubic foot. The cells are fully closed, packed tightly together, and filled with gas that helps the foam rise and expand.
